     Makes sense. Automatic transmissions stopped sucking some time by the late 90's and they're even started becoming popular in Sweden since.

     We're halfway to autonomous cars. Manual transmission is vintage.
     
     As for those remaining, you don't need a clutch any more. Automatic.

     @clacke In reality, a good CVT is the best option for driverless cars.  Since people aren't driving them, the perceived "lack of power" caused by the lack of shifting doesn't matter. http://u.daggsy.com/rk

     @takeshitakenji At the same time, autonomous cars are coming at about the same time as EVs, and then the transmission is a non-issue anyway.
