@arunisaac or #GNUNet ;) -

@arunisaac TBH I know nothing about #GNUNet except that its some kind of P2P framework that is part of the #GNUProject. Which was my point -

@catonano by #FSD I mean the Free Software Directory maintained by the #FSF

@arunisaac I've heard a lot about #Tahoe-LAFS but I've never seen it in the wild. #WebTorrent you can try out at #BitChute.com -

@arunisaac Can you point me at any websites currently using #Tahoe-LAFS for load balancing in a similar way? -

@arunisaac my mistake. But no, I'm no aware of IPFS in the wild either. Pointers? -

@arunisaac have you looked at #Bitchute? I presume its using #Webseeds on a server, like #Archive do, but for streaming instead of downloads -

@arunisaac yes, it will be good when Transmission and other end user #BitTorrent clients add full support for #WebTorrent (and #Webseeds) -

@arunisaac but for #BitChute you don't need a client other than a browse, and you only need that open to watch the stream on the website. -

@arunisaac I presume #BitChute is streaming to others as you watch videos there, just as normal #BitTorrent upoads to others as you download -

@erictapen @arunisaac awesome, thanks for the link. -

@erictapen @arunisaac as I understand it #WebTorrent just uses #WebRTC to bootstrap #BitTorrent protocol support within the browser -

@arunisaac @erictapen and as I understand it #WebRTC is just a bridge for bootstrapping P2P connections using HTTP. Could #IPFS use it too? -

@erictapen @arunisaac what was the advantage of rolling their own protocol instead of using a well established one like #BitTorrent? -

@arunisaac I'd like to see #MediaGoblin or #Plumi implement something like #WebTorrent or #IPFS -

@arunisaac then, as with #BitChute, users of sites hosted with them can share the storage and bandwidth load -

@arunisaac it also seems like a more robust way to do #federation between self-hosted video sites than strapping on #pump.io or #OStatus -

@arunisaac #BitChute is a good proof of concept for #WebTorrent but I'm not terribly impressed by its current selection of content -

@catonano me too. I've been collecting some links about P2P web hosting possibilities here
